Introduction to my blog:

Hi, my name is Amanda Sue Weimer. I was born in Ohio, but moved to Utah when I was two. I enjoy life as it comes, and greet each day and new situation with an open mind. Growing up in this beautiful state has molded me into who I am now. As much as I try to find beauty in each person and place, it is hard when half the population is close-minded. I try to lend out a helping hand to others, even if it’s as silly as holding a door for someone. When I think about helping others, I try to think of those who need the most help. But of course this is so hard, because there are so many people who need help, and each scenario is different and needs to be treated in a certain way.
When I was younger I only looked at homeless people as screw-ups and weirdoes. I never had the urge to help them, besides donating money. A little later, when I was riding in our family van, I saw a man on the corner of the street in a wheelchair. He was homeless, and was carrying a sign saying he was a war veteran. I was curious as to how a war veteran could be left out in the cold, poor and begging. I don’t really agree with war at all, but here is someone who laid their life down, for the lives of his fellow Americans, which also includes me. So for my research paper, I would like to expand on these thoughts, and discover more about the topic.
